ok i kind of already griped about the less than adequate service of the Megabus coach lines. i feel that i need to also complain about their absolute refusal to rectify the situation in any way shape or form.
let me start with this, i spent several hours trying to get in contact with a live person over the course of at least three days. now i do not want to point out the obviuos flaw in their phone response time, because, quite frankly, it is the least of my concerns. when actually got ahold of human being, not only she rude and unapologetic about anything up to that point (including my hold time), but she also abruptly disconnected without addressing a single concern of mine.
but let me back up some. here is the scenario. megabus clearly refuses to provide any sort of reimbursment for anything. the exception to this, is that they fail to provide service promised. they have this, in writing on their website. forgive me if i am wrong, but whyy would this not include the complete absence a bus?
ok, now that we are caught up, i will continue. after the first person hung up on me, i called back, and had another untimely wait on hold. by the way, this is one of those hold sysems that refuses to shut up, and compulsively reminds you that you are already on hold. which always confusing to me after the thirty minute mark. so i consider myself lucky to have had the feature there.
eventually, someone picks up, we shall call her angel. this is primarily becuase that is what she said her name was. there is no secondary reason. i unfolded my tale of woe for her, and she came back the textbook "no refunds, no exceptions". i told her how i read about the exception on their site. she said the exception does not apply, becuase i chose to not use the bus. she also said, even it did apply, they would not honor a refund anyway.
i think should elaborate a little more here. the reason i chose not to wait is simply this. megabus has no station. i was standing outside just shy of midnight, under a bridge, and waiting on a bus that was at least an hour late. i shit you not, they expect you to just wait outside on some ill lighted corner and wait until gow knows when for a bus shows up. that is totally reasonable tob them. on top of that, if i had taken the bus, i would have missed the connection in chicago, and would have had to wait until nine the next morning for another bus that may or may not show up on time. she told me that none of their times are gauranteed, and that i should have scheduled enough time for me to get my connection. wait it gets better. when i told aked her how i should go about doing so if the busses are running an hour late. she explained to me that all travel services are unreliable, and that they do not offer any kind of compensation. i told her that if a greyhound was running an hour late, and i cancelled my ticket i would still get some money back. if an airline suddenly stranded me at the airport i would probably get some compensation. maybe even a hotel room. i then reminded her that i was waiting an hour before i called it quits, and that i even tried contacting them that night to see if the bus was even running. she went on to say that some of their passengers have had to wait up to four hours for their busses to show up. so i asked her if she thought that was acceptable? she reminded me of the non-guaranteed service, and the unreliability of traveling.
she must have gotten sick of me at some point, because she asked me is i wanted to leave a message for her supervisor. i still have not heard from this anonymous, ominous figure as of june sixteenth. i would imagine that this is because that supervisor is overrun with complaints, seeing as how they were supposed to contact me and have yet to do so.
